So Let’s Talk – Facing Up To The Challenge

Aspire and So Let’s Talk have teamed up to bring you some free video resources that look at the challenges faced by hospitality teams and how to improve your mental wellbeing.

Today is Time to Talk Day – a day that focuses on starting conversations about mental health and ending the stigma. And there has never been a more important time to open up that dialogue. Almost one year since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK, we’re all struggling to feel as positive as we once did.

Workers in the hospitality industry are having a particularly rough time, and it’s really important to recognise the specific challenges that face teams working in hospitality. Patrick Howley is the founder of So Let’s Talk, a not for profit platform offering support and resources to help people in the industry who are struggling with their mental, physical and financial wellbeing.

We’ve teamed up with the team at So Let’s Talk to talk about those challenges and look at the ways we can address them and access support.

Facing up to the challenge

What are the specific challenges facing those working in hospitality? 1 in 3 people in hospitality suffer with their mental health and it’s important to recognise the issues surrounding wellbeing in the sector so we can change this.

What next?

In this next video So Let’s Talk’s Patrick Howley talks us through some of the destructive behaviours that come about for those working in hospitality and how they impact us. He also gives some advice about tackling these behaviours and improving your mental and physical wellbeing through the So Let’s Talk core foundation of training, Let’s Talk About SECS.
