Last year we started the Hospitality Professionals survey panel to help operators understand what people working in hospitality wanted from their employers, both personally and professionally during the pandemic.
Now, we have a unique opportunity to continue the conversation, and incite real change for hospitality team members.
The events of the last year have presented challenges for everyone, but there are also positive things we can take away from the change that was forced on us.
One of those things is the opportunity to open lines of communication and start some hard conversations. This has happened across the board, we’ve seen a huge shift in perceptions around remote working, sick days and the promotion of emotional wellbeing. And we don’t want those conversations to end come the 19th July. The so called “Freedom Day” gives us the opportunity to start looking to the future and the wider challenges that have been facing hospitality workers from way before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19.
And that’s why the latest survey is so important, we want to build on the positive momentum that’s been generated over the last 16 months. Your employers are listening, so make sure your voice is heard, and tell us about your experiences by taking part in our survey.

What’s on the survey?
We want to know about how you feel about your role and your feelings about the future, so we’re asking about your opinions on the future of the sector and how you feel that impacts your future in your role. We also want to know how you feel about your personal safety, the current challenges you’re facing and what would help you in your development.
But we also want to address some of the wider issues facing hospitality workers and how you feel working conditions within the sector could be improved for everyone. From staffing challenges and the impact of working unsociable hours to the challenges you face dealing with the effects of drink and drugs in your venue.
How will it help?
Our previous Hospitality Professionals surveys have garnered a lot of attention across the sector, with the survey results impacting how operators handled their communications and support during the pandemic and shaping the support offered by industry bodies such as UKHospitality.
Right now, hospitality is facing a huge staffing crisis, with understaffed venues being forced to close because they don’t have enough people to operate. Your employers want you to stay, so this is the perfect opportunity to let them know what would make your life better as a hospitality worker. The results of the survey will be communicated with operators, industry bodies and charities and will impact what conversations we have about hospitality careers moving forward, so the more people we hear from the better!
